We offer an extensive selection of short term courses. These courses are offered in response to the requests of our members. Courses are confirmed when a minimum number of six UFCW 247 members complete the registration process.
A detailed list of these courses and a calendar of start dates is published on this web site and updated on a quarterly basis. To view the list, go to Membership Courses on the Home Page and select the Training Centre nearest you to review a list of courses and their description.
Courses are free and offered predominantly in the evening and on weekends. Some courses will require a modest fee for manuals, supplies or certification; payable on the day of the class, cash or cheque only.If members have a request for a specific course, we will likely be able to meet their needs provided we have the required minimum number of six participants committed to the course.
*These guidelines are subject to change based on demand.
Review all course information on our website and submit your on-line registration request for the course(s) of interest.
Your request can also be made by calling or e-mailing us.
Shortly after the registration request has been made, you will receive an e-mail confirming that a seat is reserved for you in the desired course(s).
That email makes your registration official and indicates your commitment to attend at least 50% of the course. If you need to cancel your commitment, one week notice is required so that courses can be accurately confirmed or cancelled by the registration deadline.
Everyone registered for any course will receive a courtesy e-mail reminding them of the start date of their course (usually a week in advance).
In the event that a registered participant does not attend at least 50% of the course or give us one week notice of cancellation, s/he will be required to pay a $25 fee for not having fulfilled their attendance commitment. This fee must be paid prior to registering for any future courses. The commitment penalty for missing a First Aid or Food Safe certificate course is $80.
If there is space available in a course, others may attend in the following order of priority:
Please note that spaces reserved for anyone other than Local 247 members can only be guaranteed one week prior to the course's scheduled start date.
