UFCW Local 247 Education and Training Centre Society (commonly referred to as the Twenty Four Seven Training Centre) is a not for profit service organization. We report to a Board of Directors through our Board appointed Training Center Director, Dean Patriquin. We are accredited through PCTIA.
Our Head Office training facility is state of the art and located in downtown New Westminster, easily accessible to the hub of public transportation in Metro Vancouver.
Our mandate is to provide the tools and opportunity necessary for workers to achieve their full potential in the workplace and to invest in life long learning.
Our expertise includes:
- The operation of four training centers in BC – New Westminster (head office), Kelowna, Prince George, and Fort Saint John
- First accredited Training Center for Union members in Canada
- Two membership Training Centers – New Westminster, Kelowna
- Over 40 different Membership courses offered on an on going basis. Most programs are available free of charge to UFCW 247 Union members and their families. Certificate courses are offered at highly subsidized rates. The courses are offered weekends and evenings in order to meet the availability of members
- 15 years experience working with transitional Youth
- 20 years association with trade’s workers in BC, particularly in the area of apprenticeship. Our experience in trades’ training includes Meat cutting, Sausage Making, Professional Cook, Helicopter Mechanics, Drafting,
- Development of an innovative approach to serving trades workers throughout BC - TRADES
- Development of an innovative approach to assisting Youth enter the trades – Discovery to Apprenticeship
- Development of an innovative approach to serving older workers – 45+
- Development of an innovative approach to serving those with Literacy issues – Cook Literacy
- Qualified staff, facilitators and counselors
