Kristina's Story:  'Youth Spot Employment Centre' has included a story in their Febrary/March Newsletter, entitled "Failure is not an option". www.youthspot.ca

Kristina and her family moved from the Phillipines t Surrey in 2008.  In order to find work Kristina relocated to Vancouver and found seasonal work with Purdy's Chocolates.  She also pursued high school courses on line.  She had been referred to a Skill's Link Program, Discovery to Hospitality, Tourism and Retail and entered this program when a space became available.  "Kristina gained employment skills through workshops such as Effective Communication, Stress and Anxiety Management and resume writing. She also received her first Aid, WHMIS and Food Safe Certificates.  Kristina has completed her program, is continuing her online studies to complete her grade 12 education, taking a Socieology course at Kwantlen College and will be working during the Olympics with Live City.  She hopes one day to go to UBC to become a nurse.  Kristina believes determination, discipline and networking are important when job searching.  Kristina's favourite quote is 'failure is not an option'."
